\nThe wedding was intended to be in Germany where the bride is from, but the travel restrictions surrounding this pandemic meant that the couple had to remain in the UK. Undefeated by this a live wedding broadcast was organised, so everyone could witness the event. The college has great WIFI, so all the intended guests from elsewhere in the UK, the Sudan and Germany could all tune in and watch and listen to the wedding ceremony, exchange of vows and address by the college vicar, Jenny.<\/p>\n
Goodenough College and surrounding area<\/h2>\n
Thankfully the weather remained fairly dry and we could make full use of the cloisters, gardens and surrounding streets to get photographs of the couple after the service and the various family combinations that could attend. The wedding breakfast was in the Churchill Room and socially distanced too, with everyone sitting distanced around a large refectory table.<\/p>\n
A large projected screen at one end was set up, where the pre-recorded video messages from around the world could be replayed and shared with everyone that had joined the Zoom meeting, suffice to say it all looked a lot warmer and sunnier in the Sudan than a slightly bleak London.<\/p>\n
Summary of the small wedding day<\/h2>\n
It was a very happy occasion, the bride and groom were obviously enjoying the day thoroughly and it does show that a small wedding with social distancing can work very well.\u00a0 Add some reliable technology, co-ordinate the multiple time zones, and pre-record some fun video messages and the wedding will go without a hitch.<\/p>\n
