Autumn Wedding at The Honourable Society of Gray’s Inn in London

One of the best times of year for an outdoor wedding reception is either the autumn or spring, but only of course if it isn’t raining. The sun, when it is low in the sky can make for a sublime lighting setup that you’d normally only get in a studio, especially when you photograph more or less directly towards the sun itself – it makes for great backlighting.

The couple had their autumn wedding ceremony in Gray’s Inn, London and then only had to stroll a few yards with their guests through an old archway to the large garden space behind.

The drinks reception and family wedding photography was all taken here, while the main hall in Gray’s Inn was turned around the Wedding Breakfast. The guests mingled and chatted whilst playing lawn games such as Jenga and oversized chess and Connect Four.

Everyone then returned to the now resplendent Hall for the wedding breakfast and speeches, followed by the dancing and party.
