Wedding Photography at Chelsea Register Office and Then at London Home
This spring wedding was at Chelsea Register Office and then at home in Edith Grove, London SW10.
I must have been photographing weddings at The Chelsea Register Office for nearly 30 years now, literally hundreds of ceremonies. There is a natural energy and buzz at the venue because it is situated at one of the busiest parts of the trendy Kings Road, and as couples emerge for the traditional confetti strewn walk down its famous steps, accompanied by a hooting of car horns and cheers from passers-by. The frequency of couples getting married there also adds to the happy atmosphere, as there are wedding parties constantly walking in, couples being interviewed, and jubilant married couples walking out down the steps. I still genuinely enjoy it to this very day.
It’s worth noting too that it is a slick operation at the register office, all the staff are on the ball and know which couple should be in which room at what time…. this in itself is very reassuring to a nervous wedding couple.
Today’s wedding guests gathered in brilliant sunshine and waited for Michael and Louise to arrive in their white Rolls Royce. The service and reading went smoothly and the family groups outside were organised with help of other family members, leaving me free to try and sort people by height on the steps.
The Rolls was ready and waiting for Michael and Louise while all the guests and myself walked the short distance to their flat for champagne, canapés and speeches.
Here are a few highlights from the wedding photography taken on the day.
